Bad Luck on a Rainy Day

Today was frustrating.

I only got to play once I got home from a day out with my family; since this morning was weekly maintenance, I couldn't log on after I woke up. When I got home it was drizzling a bit, so I was worried my internet would slow down and make playing impossible. I was able to log in though, and I ran into Lerik. We got to talking about the quests we had been given, and told me that I should get working on my Operation N and my Deposit quests. He left to PT train in Beast Mountain, while I was left in HQ to wonder which quest would be easier to do.

To be honest, I haven't really been questing much; I've been spending most of my time tanking for HBDs and playing my Machinist, so when Lerik brought it up, I was somewhat clueless. Luckily I ran into Masataka, and he sort of explained what I had to do for each quest. We were actually supposed to start my Depo quest together, but instead he referred me to ChandraEspesyal, who had already set up a party of eight who were also going to complete the quest for the day.

Things went fast and fairly well for the first part of the quest. I used a Teleport Potion to get to ChandraEspesyal quickly, and it turned out they were already in Numerous, hunting down Bellato Deserters. We finished after a few minutes, and moved to Herodian Plant in Anacaade to finish off some Accretian Deserters that were hiding there. When it was time to go to 117, things started getting messy. We cheated a bit on our way to Armory 213, taking the passage through Anacaade to get there. When we were at the gate, preparing to tank the Town Guard Towers, I got disconnected. I listened a bit, and heard that it had started to rain outside. Which meant that my internet was going to get really slow, really fast. I logged on as fast as I could, hoping that I could finish the Depo quest before my internet connection totally went down the drain. ChandraEspesyal was nice enough to stay behind and wait for me. We got to 117, and as I was making my way around the half buried ship there, I got a bit lost. I checked my radar to see what direction everyone had gone, when I got disconnected again. Nooo. What terrible timing! The next five minutes, I spent logging in and getting disconnected 5 seconds after.

Finally, I managed to secure myself a bit. I was surprised to see that ChandraEspesyal was waiting for me again, but embarrassed to find out that everyone else had finished and moved on to the Kartellan Bio Lab in Ether to kill Izen Rock in order to complete the quest. I had turned into a deadweight for the party. I was banging my head against my desk in real life. It didn't help that ChandraEspesyal was going out of his way to help me (I felt bad about that) and that my internet connection wasn’t cooperating with me. Sigh. We actually managed to get around 5 Corite Deserters, but then I got disconnected again, and when I reconnected, ChandraEspesyal was nowhere to be seen, and an Accretian party was starting to form for a PL. I ran around to the side, and started picking off a few of them solo. CE logged back in and PMed me asking me if I wanted to continue, but feeling bad enough about the whole situation, I told him that it was ok. The thing is, before I could send the message, I started lagging reaaaaaaaally bad. Right before I got disconnected for the nth time, I caught a glimpse of an Accretian taking a whack at my struggling Warden. Ridiculously frustrated at this point, I logged on to my Machinist, who was safe in HQ, and PMed CE again. Disappointed and disheartened, I thanked him for all his efforts, and told him to continue with the quest without me.

What luck.

I guess it wasn't a good day for either of us.
